Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I like to read first thing in the morning, hot cup of coffee in hand, while my kids watch cartoons and whine over why they can’t have pop tarts for breakfast every day. It’s my relax time, my pleasure time. The only problem is, when a book is very complex or written in a more elaborate style than I am used to, I have a hard time connecting to it. I mean, that fresh cup of coffee hasn’t even kicked in yet and I’ve got two rambunctious boys trying to tackle each other and screaming “mommy.” Continue reading
