Suppressed: Chapter One

Hello beautiful readers!

I’m so excited for the upcoming release of Suppressed! A young adult paranormal romance with witches and mermaids, Suppressed opened a whole new world to me and my writing. Not only are there new characters and a new world, I also wrote it in the first person for the first time, which was as scary as it was exciting!

The book is still with its editors, but I’m going to jump the gun here and share the first chapter with you! Keep in mind that some things may change slightly and any typos will be fixed before the book releases on May 16th! Let me know what you think!

What Lies Inside by J.L. Myers

Wow. What a ride this book took me on. I was gifted a copy of this book by the author and, when that happens, you never really know what you’re gonna get. I am so glad I took a chance on What Lies Inside.

I loved it, and I do mean LOVED, from beginning to end. I loved the characters, I loved the plot. I loved the fact that as I read, I felt transported into Amelia’s world and it was seamless. I could feel and relate to each of her emotions and I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next.
Ty…Ty is an amazing character. I fell in love with him just as quickly as Amelia did.

The best part, for me, were the surprises. I’m usually very good at figuring out what’s going on and predicting the ending. With this book, I was just as confused as the main character, sifting through the clues, trying to figure out who the real bad guy was. I suspected it was this character or that and, in the end, I was partially right, but it was so well-written that I could’t figure out the why or how of it. The reveal kept me enthralled til the very last page.

I must admit, I immediately bought book 2. I can’t wait to get started and see where the story goes from here.
Great story, great characters, amazing imagination. If you’re looking for a vampire novel with a different sort of twist- try this one! You won’t regret it!

I absolutely loved this book. The writing is impeccable, the story is intriguing and the characters are entertaining and likable. Samantha Britt brought the world of the Fae to life without overdosing on imagery. In the natural flow of the story, I could imagine myself in the Winter Court, seeing everything our heroine Gwen saw for the first time. Kalan made me swoon, as did Ian. The next book in the series can’t come soon enough.
If you like stories of the Fae, please do yourself a favor and check this book out!! Amazing!

Happy Birthday, Wendi Writes!

Today is the 1 year anniversary of this blog!! Yay! When I started this journey on by hitting the “publish” button on Kindle Direct Publishing, I never knew what a ride it would be! Writing, I knew. Editing, proofreading, formatting, publishing, blogging, tweeting, Instagram-ing…hell, even reviewing books, I DID NOT KNOW. I didn’t know what an author platform is. I didn’t know anything (and still don’t really) about marketing and websites and mailing lists….it goes on and on.

But here I am- the proud author of two published books with a third on the way. I have followers- not a lot, but I am proud of each and every one of them. I get random messages from strangers who just want to tell me how much they loved my book (This part is AWESOME!). I read the reviews and cherish each and every one of them- the good and the not so good. Whether they liked it or not, someone read MY book and took the time to tell their peers what they thought. And that, my friends, is priceless.

Invidious (Marked Book 2) by Bianca Scardoni

Bianca Scardoni has done it again- taken me on a riveting roller coaster of a ride that left me panting for more. Invidious is the second book in the marked series and picked up right where Inception (My favorite book of 2015! See my review here) left off. I kept telling myself to reread Inception before I started this, it has been 7+ months after all, but I couldn’t wait and dove right in. I have a terrible memory when it comes to books-I read at least one per week, usually- but this story was written so beautifully that I was brought back up to speed without it seeming like a redundant retelling of what happened in book 1.

Fearless by April Wilson

Fearless picks up where Vulnerable left off- with Shane McIntyre tirelessly loving and protecting Beth. I love him so much!

There are a few hiccups as their relationship grows, with Beth trying to recover and learn to stand on her own two feet while Shane attempts to keep her huddled under the umbrella of his protective nature. Beth comes into her own, navigating through her fear while attempting to conquer it.
